I've had a chat with mcb30, and figured out why this patch has been lingering non-merged.
The igbvf driver this was based on, was using the old Intel driver as a base. The igbvf should be rewritten to work on top of the new intel.c driver, and ixgbevf should be implemented on top of the new intelx.c, which is almost identical to intel.c. --- Reply to this email directly or view it on GitHub: https://github.com/ipxe/ipxe/pull/9#issuecomment-20974910
