Scott, Well, technically I keep everything. Yes, I have Beta tapes back to 1977 when I bought my first machine. However, you may have noticed I have moved to recording on DVD now. I have the computer with DVD recording, plus two stand alone units. Plus my satellite equip. is new with digital Mpeg, Star Choice, 4DTV. Yes, I still have record players that still play 78s and also an 8 track machine. So I have most of the technology through the years still in use. I just add stuff, I don't throw it away unles it wears out. hi. 99% of my TV recording is on DVD now. All of my reception reports now I enclose a CD. So I think I am up to date except for HDTV. That is down the road a bit. But I will get one in time, if nothing else to get the best quality from my DVDs. My TV set is a 1988 Radio Shack set, you might have noticed. hi. As far as the LCD/DLP HDTV sets go, I am told there is one issue. The tube type still looks the best, but things are moving to the LCD/DLP types, but the issue is with the bulb in the set. They tend to burn out and they cost $200-$400 each! But the tube type HDTV sets are little by little going away.
