You're right. There's probably as many reasons as there are delayed messages. A company I worked at had a number of problems crop up. In their case, they installed a content filter that was designed to weed out spam. It did that well, but until it was tuned, a number of legitimate messages were sent to the quarantine area until they were discovered by the sysadmin. He wouldn't have even looked were it not for someone who complained because a prospective client's email was being "ignored"...it was in the quarantine too. As spam (and spammers) get more sophisticated, the rules to weed them out have to become more sophisticated too. In an interview today, we were talking about spam problems, and I mentioned that when man makes a better mousetrap, God makes smarter mice. This was longer than it needed to be, but the best thing I can recommend is to learn how to trace the paths of delayed emails, and note problem areas. If there are consistent patterns, let someone know. No pattern...chalk it up to technology. Mike Hawkins Campbell CA P.S. Patrick...what is the format of KJMP/870 (if you know) ?

He received the message and responded to it quickly. The response just arrived here 5 days later. It was date stamped on the 20th. Other messages sent between this same person and myself during this same period have arrived at both ends in a timely manner. This seems to me to be a widespread and intermittent problem not related to a specific carrier.
