More Data will follow today and I go over my notes and charts. Location: Central Saanich, B.C. (20km N.W. of Victoria B.C. Canada) Antennas - 450ft LW terminated at the North end. ALA100 HulaLoop Receiver - Drake R8
Suffice to say that, while the dial was slightly disturbed (after about 1430UTC) -- the tuning period of about 1330UTC-1350UTC (Mobile w/ JVC receiver tuned to the ASIA-EURO 9khz plan) and on the beverage + ALA100 from 1355 - 1520 was very interesting... Perhaps more from a personal perspective, I was relieved to find that my double-turn 4.5' Hula coil attached to the ALA100 performed "as well" as the 450 foot wire (less about 2-5db band top-bottom) and did REALLY well upper-band, unlike how it performs at the Apartment QTH. I did mention that while driving the 30 minutes (18km) to the antenna site, I tuned the likes of 738, 747, 756, 774, 963, 972 etc, some yielding audio (even though the JVC Car Radio [am-fm-sirius ] is set somewhere around 6khz BW. All of the hets were obvious - some impressively so. Antenna for the car-receiver is an "in-glass" coil on the rear window. Off the top of my head - stand-outs this morning were SQM-529 at an 8 or 9. Very little to speak of between 576 and 594. Things started to take off at 675 with Vietnam in for the duration. The usuals on 738, 747, 756, 774, 828, 855, and then signals took a HUGE jump at 936, 945, 963 (8), 972 (8), lots of stuff between 1017 and 1070 (need notes!), 1134, 1143, 1197, lots of stuff beyond that... The whole band was quite balanced... Stunning audio on 774khz (JJ), 945, 963(RR), 972(KK), 1287, 1566(KK) and 1575(Thailand) The ALA100 averaged a couple of db below the average levels of the 450ft LW -- Colin Newell Editor-Creator www.coffeecrew.com | www.dxer.ca Webmaster - www.bobharris.com _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://arizona.hard-core-dx.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
