A MOST interesting session. Pretty much exclusively JJ it seemed, and confined
to the upper band. The lower band was very subdued, and it was only the upper
half of the upper band that really came to life, but after
15:00. Malaysia was great for the first 30 minutes, but was a bit more anemic
at their sign-off at 15:31, but still audible clearly. It was fun watching the
Icom 756 Pro2's spectrum display showing equal peaks for 1470,
1475, and 1480! Lot's of 2nd tier JJ stations heard, but for most, the audio
only made it to a 6 or weak 7. HLAZ was outstanding, though at a 9 at 15:20 or
so. Taiwan also heard with WYFR on 1557. The CC stations
were again not heard. I haven't heard good audio out of 963 in a number of
weaks, and sure nothing today. 22 audios. One highlight was audio on 1485
which is a graveyard station. 6 to 7 strength. No idea who it could
be, but presumably one of the many low power JJ listed. Great fun for sure.
Great enhancement after 15:00. Seems no point in waking up too early these
days!........Walt Sallmaniw, Victoria,BC
