The comparative signal differences between the EWE and a 500' BOG between top and bottom end are what I would expect since BOG's are very lossy antennas and at 500' while they have superb directivity, they are getting lossy at the top end. But, for the EWE, at the top end it is electrically a bigger antenna and has more signal than at the low end.
In comparision between the BOG and the EWE, you should note considerably less signal at right angles to the BOG and this is why I use them, rather than cardiod patterned antennas, since I create a deep back null by phasing. I suggest running a 2nd // BOG about 325-350' in length and maybe 1.5 to 2' away from the first BOG for phasing. 73 KAZ ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gil Stacy" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Les Rayburn" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Mailing list for the International Radio Club of America" <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, December 19, 2006 3:51 PM Subject: Re: [IRCA] Deed Restrictions and DXing >> If you can put up a flagpole, you can put up a vertical antenna for HF. >> You > said bogs were out, but are temporary bogs totally out of the question? > Out > at night, up at dawn, behind the house?
