If not mistaken, all computers still run on DOS, and Windows is simply a
software over atop DOS?

Subject: [IRCA] Running MS-DOS programs
Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2007 11:12:24 -0800
There was a recent question about running old MS-DOS programs. My answer
is my 486-DX 33mHz happily running DOS 5.0 that runs all my DOS programs
quite nicely. You can probably pick up one of these for a song gathering
dust in somebody's garage.
I'll give up my 486 when they pry my cold dead fingers from it!
And my Pentium runs Windows 98 which also still has DOS included.
