Dennis, As far North as we are, in the Winter we get constant skip during much of the day. I have always called the groundwave "extended groudwave". I remember in the early 70s on one December day of getting KYAK-Anchorage & KORL-Honolulu 650 both mixing at Noon. Another time at about 1 PM PST, I was getting all sorts of Midwest stations, and I didn't even have a beverage in those days. WLS, WCCO, WGN, WHO were all in. Of course there are more stations on these days and the frequencies are not as clear as they were 35-40 years ago. That was also in the time when I had China 1040 in until almost Noon PST!
