Charlie, Congratulations on moving into the digital future. Between digital media and digital documents, I save tons of space and don't feel like I miss anything in the process. The one thing I would warn you about is to avoid Maxell CDs. I always trusted Maxell cassette tape and bought their CDs because of that trust. I found them to be thinner and very brittle. I even broken a few with handling that everything else easily survived. There are plenty of good brands, but I figured I should specifically mention one to avoid. Mike

They came to 1.06 GB as WAV files. Next, I acquire dBpoweramp Music Converter which converted these to MP3 files, at 206 MB. Have ordered some CD blanks, and expect to put the Bermuda files on duplicate CDs. Thanks to all who have provided advice as to how to accomplish this, and the software to use. I started from a practically zero knowledge base. Contradicting what I wrote before, the Bermuda tapes do show some deterioration. One of the tape bands came loose from the drive reel. Fortunately, I could open the cassette and used a bit of cellophane tape to secure the loose tap end to the reel. Next: the Okinawa tapes. 73, Charles ----- Charles A Taylor, WD4INP Greenville, North Carolina _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected] --------------------------------- Bored stiff?
