Hello All,
The medium-wave portable DX receiver of choice in the Japanese market,
the Sony ICF-EX5, is practically unknown here in North America. A direct
successor to the highly sensitive ICF-S5 (and S5W), the radio was strictly
designed for the Japanese market, and is not offered for sale here.
For the club, a thorough review of this ICF-EX5 was recently completed,
comparing it with the ICF-S5W, the ICF-2010, and the ICF-SW7600GR models in
terms of sensitivity, selectivity, synch detector operation, image and
spurious signal rejection, and audio quality. Tests revealed that the ICF-EX5
was
highly sensitive indeed, having an advantage over all the other models except
its sibling predecessor, the ICF-S5W. The review also contains a list of 3
supply sources, where it may be obtained at a delivered price of $173.00 US.
List subscribers interested in obtaining an early copy of the 4-page
report can request one by email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

98371.
Thanks and Best Wishes, Gary DeBock (N7EKX)
