*** The idea of the FCC someday mandating digital means different things depending on your timeframe. Could it occur way down the road ? Sure - and there could be an entirely different dynamic from what there is now, so I'd never say never. Is it likely to occur as an outgrowth of the current situation ? I'd say it's unlikely, simply because the way the cards lie now, I doubt most of the large owners would be backing that once they've experienced firsthand the public indifference to AM HD. And all of the above could be moot if terrestrial radio as we now know it has died in the meantime because the next new better thing really was.
