Thursday and Friday's sunny weather gave way to rain and wind by Saturday afternoon, discouraging all but the most diehard clam diggers who were at Ocean City State Park last weekend. There was quite an exodus of campers from the park by 3 PM! I was warm and dry in the DX van, and the antennas hadn't blown over, so I stayed put. Sunday morning's conditions as experienced from Ocean City State Park were very interesting, with equal and STRONG reception from both Australia and Japan/Korea. A number of frequencies had Aussie English mixing with Japanese in a real jumble. 774 kHz in particular was a big mess! 612 4QR Brisbane was the last to fade away, with decent audio noted past 1430. 540 4QL and 738 2NR faded down to hets only shortly before 4QR. Presumed Alice Springs 8AL made an appearance on 783, parallel to 2485. 711 kHz had Chinese language mixing with Korean; perhaps Hanseng BC Network, Hsinfeng, Taiwan vs. HLKA, Sorae, S. Korea? The phased array I was using continued to impress, especially in the dual loop arrangement. The manufacturer will have an excellent product with this if they decide to go into production, in my opinion.
