Not to start an OS war, but I have been advising my clients to avoid Vista like the plague. The additional overhead from it's constant checking for Digital Rights Management issues is very significant. Under some circumstances, it will intentionally degrade the quality of any media file played, if the DRM information isn't exactly right. And there is no way to avoid that. There are also anti-piracy "features" which threaten to make any computer inoperable if it malfunctions, or if something is changed on the computer itself. I also have been told of other problems under the surface. I have not even gone to XP on my own machines. If I had to, I would use XP Pro, and not XP Home. Some of my clients have machines with XP Home and they have been problematic. Still using Windows 2000, and will until it becomes impossible. To be honest, I expect to diverge off into Linux before Vista. It will be a lot more work, but I will not support all that DRM foolishness. I would consider a Mac, but I don't know of a way to run DOS apps. Linux can.
