1700 VA I heard two other TISs under/over WQCL647 Newport News,
Virginia late this afternoon.
One definitely IDed itself thusly [preceded by SS
announcement]: "You're listening to
Arlington County AM 1700, your advisory station for
important travel and safety infor-
tion. Set your radio to 1700....." FCC lists show two
TISs in Arlington, so using the
syntax (fashioned after the Hanover County TIS, below)
for a query to Arlington County
government, I tried www.co.arlington.va.us and got a
website, and I queried them as to
the correct callsign. Doubt they'll reply. But I tried!
Poor mostly, but happened to peak
in time for the above announcement.
1700 VA Ashland, Hanover County. Heard third down below WQCL647
Newport News and
Arlington (VA). No other information except reference to
Hanover County, and a
website that I figured out as www.co.hanover.va.us.
Tried that website, and it's good.
But went no further because I was hotter on WQCL647
Newport News and Arlington.
Very poor, barely intelligible. (CAT-NC)
