I am currently visiting Whistler, a resort community north of
Vancouver -- within our suite my Grundig YB400 is virtually
useless on FM and AM 100-30,000 khz for the orchestra of RF
hash, pops, buzzes, whirs and sounds I have never heard before.

When I get out on the lanai, it does come to life somewhat...
with SW opening up quite nicely only a few feet from the building
we are in.

My thought is (and I really do not wish to open another digital
versus non-digital debate about the evolution of radio...

but...

An analog radio is useless in most urban environments
so I cannot imagine a digital one would be any better.
