Phil, In my ever so humble opinion, I think you might very well have heard KXTO. The QRSS signal was indeed Morse Code but slowed down to where the dits were 10 seconds long, and the dahs were 30 seconds. If the "buzz" is at audio 2500 Hertz, and since you were pointing in that direction. I know, this test was different, as the normal audio may not have come through.
