Patrick Martin and fellow EWE lovers,
Instead of terminating my EWE with the standard resistive termination, I've been trying reactive terminations with the thought that I may be "slew" nulls somewhat. Instead of 1,000 ohms termination, I tried a 1,000-pF capacitive termination and noted that some stations on some frequencies dropped considerably in strength as against their co-channel. I have also tried a 500-uH termination with similar effects. This is something to look into, but I've got to locate a cheepie FM transmitter to connect to my R8B audio output so I can go out an try different terminations while listening on my DX-398 (or AM/FM earphone radio). ANYONE KNOW OF SOME CHEAP LITTLE FM TRANSMITTERS. Not the Ramsey professional FM transmitter sort of thing, but something that will broadcast a nice FM signal 100 feet or so. I eliminated the ground on my EWE. Buried a return wire and disconnected the grounds on both ends of the return wire. Now what I have is actually a loop and not a EWE, to be technical. Boy is it quiet! Our TV set is about 125 feet away from my EWE/ loop, but the 15.75-kHz harmonics are weak enough that almost none of them block daytime reception of weak groundwaves. I'm spoiled for sure. If the woods behind my house ever get developed, I'm in for trouble QRM-wise. Well, we have plans to move within the next few years but I hate to lose this RFI free environment! 73 de Charles _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
