Two Sundays ago a man called the "Bill Wattenburg Show" on KGO 810 and said he
owned a AM radio station in Coos Bay, Oregon. He asked Dr. Bill a question
about the station's poor ground condition; for instance, the antenna is on
shale and on the coast. Dr. Bill said if he could move the antenna to a meadow
that would certainly help the ground situation. He told the caller to drive
two copper rods into the soil and check the soil's conductivity using a
volt-ohm meter. The caller mentioned that no one at the station was
knowledgeable on ground systems, they were all computer geeks including
himself. The call ended with Dr. Bill asking the fellow to e-mail him so that
he could recommend a couple of antenna experts that could help him with his
antenna ground problems.

There are only two AM stations in Coos Bay, OR. KHSN 1230 & KMHS 1420, the
latter of which is owned by the school district. Have not heard either of them
here.
