Guy, What are the other differences between the SDR-IQ and the SDR-1000? Since my knowledge of computer generated receivers is so limited, I am wondering if one would work well for me. I would think a laptop would still be quietier than any regular computer though. I do like being able to record a section of the band. That is very nice feature. The noise blankers you mention sound like they may do a better job than the ones in the R8. Thanks Guy.
