Patrick, have you thought of using a mini-MP3 recorder with a line-in? I have an IRiver IFP-899, which works wonderfully. I hook it up to my car radio to record bandscans while driving, and have tested it with my R8. It directly encodes into MP3 files and it much smaller than a cassette recorder.
