Anybody out there have specific ID info on this?? ////// Your loop bearing is pretty accurate Art. The FCC database shows a TIS on 1610 licensed to the Ross Valley Fire Service in San Anselmo. The transmitter site is listed as 150 Butterfield Road. The call sign is WPKX394 and the power is 10 watts. The control point and business address is 777 San Anselmo Ave. The contact person is JoAnne Lewis at 415-258-4686.
The license specifies that they "shall transmit only non-commercial voice information" but doesn't specifically prohibit music. There use to be a provision that prohibited music on a TIS but I can no longer find it in the rules. Many TIS stations broadcast some music content. The TIS at Denver International Airport, for example, routinely plays seasonal music during the holidays. They use the music as a bumper between information segments.
