A check at 1520UT (and the propagation monitor) revealed a not too exciting morning; mostly the regular Japanese with any audio, though some were surprisingly good, given the lack of much second-string audio. Asian unless indicated otherwise: Darn good audio, if briefly: 774, 828 Reasonable audio (though often battling w/splash): 594, 1134 Not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise: 747, 873 NHK2, 954, 1287 Burbles in the splatter: 279....and that seemed to be it; mostly weaker carriers except strong carrier, no audio: 855 (with a hum), 1098 **************** 16 December was a fair bit livelier from 1530 to 1545UT (although HLAZ-1566 had a final peak at 1622UT, and I was able to hear the slightest audio traces when they changed their pattern at 1730UT) Darn good audio, if briefly: 747, 774 Reasonable audio (though often battling w/splash): 594, 828, 1566 Not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise: 945 CNR1, 1134 (2 audios, Japan and S. Korea most likely), 1386 with NHK2 s/off chimes at 1540UT Burbles in the splatter: 567, 585, 621, 675, 972 (usual big carrier though), 1593 likely China as heard after NHK2 s/off strong carrier, no audio: 1242, 1269, 1386 after NHK2 s/off, though maybe they left their carrier on? best wishes, Nick **************************************************************************** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, B.C.
