Hi Gary: After more searching, in addition to the battle-seasoned T615, SRF-59 and DT-210V, it seems like the possibles that haven't participated in a shoot-out are: - Sangean DT-120V/180V - Sangean DT-220V - CCrane SWP (Redsun RP300) - Eton E100 (Tecsun RP200) - anybody else? The last two (CCrane and Eton) have a few more bells and whistles, which would be nice, and I wonder how they compete with the Sony models (depending on how they fare, the best of the two might be my new alarm clock!). I think you said you already have a Sangean DT-180V, DT-220V and a CCrane SWP for the 2008 shoot-out - do you have the E100/RP200, or have you ruled it out in the past?
So...the attached spreadsheet reflects these worthy competitors. I assume for now the performance of the super-tiny DT-120V/180V will be the same as the DT-210V - please prove me wrong in the 2008 shootout! Also, I thought it was interesting to detail the 7600GR just to see what a few more dollars, ounces and cubic inches gets you. Speaking of size, weight and cost, it seems that an "Ultralight" is something that: 1. weighs less than 10 ounces w/o batteries 2. is less than 20 cubic inches 3. costs less than $100 These criteria include all of the above, and exclude the Degen 1103's, Sony 7600's, super-expensive micro Sonys (SW1, SW100), etc. How does that sound for an operable definition of an Ultralight??? I suppose we could grandfather in the expensive micro Sonys if people are still using them.... 73 - Kevin
