Hello All,
Because of some superb investigative work by Kevin Schanilec and
others, the SRF-59 Tech Trio (Steve Ratzlaff, Nick Hall-Patch and myself) now
have
full documentation not only on the SRF-59, but on the SRF-T615 and other
Ultralight models.
The availability of a full service manual on the SRF-59 greatly helps
us to align models to peak efficiency, to set up repair doctrines for faulty
components, and come closer to "cracking the code" on Sony's phenomenal
30-pin CXA-1129 IC.
Fortunately, true problems with new SRF-59 units have been very rare,
but Kevin, in his great generosity, provided us with a genuine turkey model
last week, the first actually defective unit that we have heard (or seen) of
yet in the IRCA SRF-59 Boom.
The turkey SRF-59 was about to be donated to Ultralight Science, but
since the service manual arrived shortly before dispatch of the turkey, this
ex-Navy tech suddenly realized that a total turkey SRF-59 was a great match
for
a full service manual... and its life was spared. It may yet soar to the
heights of ultra-thrilling Ultralight TP DXing...
73, Gary
