Excellent article, Gil!!! And the illustrations are truly worth1000 words. One thing that you didn't mention (or maybe I missed) is how the outboard ferrite bar affects the vaunted nulling ability of the '59. Better, worse, the same? I'm sure it would be an intuitive judgement at this point, but whadda ya think.

I googled Bill Turner and ferrite and got lots of references to him, but no website. Could you give us the URL, please, and maybe append it to the article??
