Gary asks: how much does a new house cost in Newfoundland? You could get coastal property and a winterized building on the Avalon peninsula for less than $20,000. Sad, in a way. It's this low because the economy has gone to pot, largely due to crisis with fish stocks but more complex in many respects, and this list is not about politics. But it's all brought the cost of property waaaay down. I've actually considered buying property there, the one thing stopping me is ongoing maintenance costs and hassles...
