Hello All,

Due to the booming interest in highly DX-capable pocket radios, the
upcoming 2008 Shootout is attracting interest far beyond the level of the 2007
competiton!

The 2008 contestants were selected in December, and are the following
distinguished Ultralight Radios:

1) Sony SRF-T615 Digital AM-FM Stereo (lighter-sized)

2) Sangean DT-180V Digital AM-FM Stereo (lighter-sized)

3) Sangean DT-210V Digital AM-FM Stereo (pocket-sized)

4) C.Crane SWP Digital AM-SW-FM Stereo (pocket-sized)

All four units have been received, and the reviewer is very eager to
start the review. However, in order to ensure that no defective "turkey
units"
accidentally create a bad rap for the entire model, we have been forced into
some delays as we scramble to research what performance a typical new
production unit has, in a couple of instances. This has meant ordering
additional
new units, or researching other existing units of the same model number. All
this extraordinary care is being taken to ensure that YOU will have the best
possible, accurate judgement of the relative performance of all these models.

Of course, the three surviving models from the 2007 Shootouit (SRF-59,
SRF-M37V, and DT-200VX) may just possibly be brave enough to show up for the
2008 Shootout live-signal showdown, so that all of these highly dedicated,
gallant contenders can have an equal shot at ultimate Ultralight Glory!

                                73, Gary DeBock.
