Continuation of experiments with ewe and SRF59', M37V and Sony 2010:
Today at sundown, I repeated the experiment on ZBVI and WDHP. The first two
radios coupled as expected with the vertical element and both stations were
audible. WDHP was much stronger--S9. The 2010 would not couple. Perhaps
the ferrite is deeper in the case than the ultralights. I dunno....

Inside the shack, I scramble wound a few turns of teflon coated hookup wire
around the M37V and held the wire ends to the Diawa Switch's vacant port's
center and ground. The connection was not great, but I was able to hear
WDHP's relay of the BBC until the Rube Goldberg creation sprung apart in my
hands after a few moments. The rx could not hear the signal without
coupling. I'll improve the coupling arrangement and report back. I may rig
a ground terminal to my ferrite tuner box and see if I can couple the ewe
with it. Sure beats working for a living...
