That's a very parallel technique to what is used with a balanced air
core loop to null down strong locals, so I'm familiar with it and in
fact even tried it on my big 4, but with powers of 5 kw to 50 kw and
all of them with lobes - either minor or major - in my direction at
night. But as I said, since neither a 2' loop, a 4' loop ( both
altazimuth ) nor the 2010 can take any of them down enough, I didn't
expect the 59 would either. The test I'm looking forward to trying is
1070 at night. I've been able to do that occasionally with the big loop
but that's about it.
