I didn't stay up late to try for the CFFX test, as they are such a common groundwave pest, and have 'em veried as CKWS some three decades ago. But I did get up early to catch their final sign-off, hoping that perhaps they would do some kind of tribute to their trusty old transmitter, like when CBL signed off 740 some years back. But CFFX's final sign off was nothing special. At 0559: "this is Dave Holmes, it's coming up to 5:59 and Oldies 960 AM is about to go off the air permanently. Don't forget to switch your radio to 104.3 FM for more of your light favourites." Carrier dropped off immediately at 0600, with no O Canada (or for the really old-school types, God Save the Queen!). 73 Mike Brooker Toronto, ON _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
