For those fortunate individuals who have tracked down the ultimate
analog DX Machine (the SRF-39FP, a variant of the SRF-59 with a much more
convenient tuning thumbwheel), you may be interested to know that the SRF-39FP
will
be fully covered in the 2008 Ultralight AM-DX Shootout article. Normally,
only commercially available units are covered in the Shootout, but since
everyone will have a chance to "win" an SRF-39FP Prison Radio in the
Ultralight DX
Awards program, an exception was made for this "criminally-effective" unit
(which always aligns to a slightly more sensitive level than the SRF-59). .
Also, for those who have reserved a model from the shipment primarily
intended for the Ultralight DX Awards program, the Florida seller has
indicated that the units will be shipped this week, and probably arrive in
Washington
state next week. If you were one of the lucky ones, get ready for some
serious analog DX fun!
