When writing my radio column, I always ask the radio station "I heard that XYZ is going on" rather than reporting that Joe Smith said "W___ is doing XYZ" [when in fact, they were doing ABC.] And no, this post isn't turning into a Jackson 5 song, and I'm not saying what Paul is doing is solid research either.
