Missed the first part of this thread but this aroused my curiosity.
Was this a spur off of the old AT&T backbone microwave network? I
worked for Long Lines in the 1960s and had a peripheral job interest in
their microwave networks. Off topic, too, I wonder if the coax network
that, I believe had a manned (underground, hardened) station in
Longmont, Colo., is still functioning. - John S.

Yes indeed Robbie. One of the many microwave paths that ran through
Buckhorn connected Crow Creek Hill, WY to Broomfield, CO. The
Broomfield
tower is still intact and presently supports numerous communications
antennas.
