Hi Walt,
Your DUs have been "meager", but mine have been nonexistent! For the last three mornings since revising my rotating Wellbrook ALA100 to 13.5 X 8.5 feet, I've been chasing DUs. I've oriented the loop right at 235 degrees bearing, which splits the difference between Australia and New Zealand from here. Unfortunately I haven't even found any hets after recording with Perseus between 1100-1230 UTC. Maybe I will record between 1800 - 1600 kHz the next few days, to reach any high band stations that might be struggling to rise above the splatter. My recording and DXing has been from 530 kHz to 1330 kHz only, since the antenna revisions. (And as you know, Perseus can't *yet* record the entire MW band.) Signal strengths are quite improved (6 - 10 dB) over the prior smaller version of the loop, and that smaller size has done pretty well at catching TPs when conditions are right. However, the signal path is over more land mass to the SW of me compared to the NW. Since I didn't have anything to compare to, I'll have to rely on Steve and the early morning gang for comparisons. A smattering of weak audios here in Victoria. Lots of weak hets. For me, the best performers were in the upper half of the band. 792 4RN up to 7 at times 963 a 6 1098 reasonably strong OC 1116 a 6 1386 a 6, especially around 12:13 1503 6 to 7, ?Radio Sport 1512 6 ?ABC Almost audios: 855, 567, 738, 819, 1008, 1332, 1476, and 1701. Relatively meager compared to what I'm used to in the Fall, and on the Queen Charlottes. I'll be very interested in Nick's and John's observations........Walt. -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com - Microsoft® Exchange solutions from a leading provider - http://link.mail2web.com/Business/Exchange _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
