Hi Pete,
I spent almost 50 years as a resident in the province of Alberta before
moving to Newfoundland in 2002.
The Dx in Alberta i found was somewhat limited especially on the AM band to
more so , US stations. They are quite plentiful. Foreign Dx tends to be non
existent unless you have an exceptionally long wire or antenna.
You may hear the likes of some South Americans, Mexico etc but thats about it
for any foreign signals on AM without the larger arrays. I've Dxed myself
around the Banff and Jasper areas and seem to find the same results as
mentioned prior. I think i'm spoiled living here now !!!
If you get the chance while visiting Alberta and have the time , consider
visiting Waterton Park in the southwest corner of the province. That's my
favorite place in Alberta and prefer it to Banff or Jasper
Regards
