John, I've found that my Conti loops are very quiet compared to all the other 
antennae I have at my disposal including the ALA 100, K9AY, T2FD, etc.....the 
noise floor is way quieter than the rest.  Also with the verticals of my 
favourite NW Conti loop being about 45', I haven't noticed much reduction in 
signal strength either compared to the others.  It's a much quieter antenna 
overall (better S/N) which more than makes up for more signal!  ......Walt.
