Reporting in from Cannon Beach, OR.  As usual, my first morning is more of one
of mistakes and technical difficulties, rather than serious listening!  The set
up was going down to the beach in front of the resort (misty, but not cold).  I
have my 2010 with me (but kept getting the dreaded "error 3" message due to the
D cells not connecting properly....frustrating!), along with the prison radio
ultralight.  Used only about 50' of white teflon coated wire along with a
matching transformer as the input....that took me 10 minutes to untangle!  Was
out stumbling in the dark at about 4:45.  Nothing much to hear at that hour,
but 279 at a 7 level.  Overall things started slowly, but really improved after
12:25.  Best audio was 648, with up to 8 level.  Unfortunately, didn't get an
ID.  Mostly EZL music.  At 12:27, heard an announcement, "You're listening to
XXX Radio".  Sounded more American accented rather than DU accented English.
Ideas?  Surely not Australia.  NZ?
Other stations heard in audio were:  639 (more like 638.9) likely Fiji.
657:  EZL music first noted at 12:09, but improved later.  At
12:33 a strong 7.  Prob. NZ.
                684:  A "6" at 12:37
864:  weak talk noted at 12:15.

Nothing spectacular, but all DU later, except for the solitary Russian on LW
earlier.  Perhaps tomorrow, I'll be a little more organized!  .........Walt.
