Because it has to be tuned in SSB mode for at least half a minute to go 1 KHz, I would assume the tuning step is more like 10 Hz than 100 Hz. Can't say precisely with certainty. I returned the G6 for refund due to tones on about 10 MW frequencies with batteries & more freqs with AC adapter (which wipes out MW almost completely). The intensity of tones would change when buttons were depressed. I didn't try using SSB to get rid of the tones, does that work? Couldn't get rid of them in AM by going 1 or 2 kHz off freq. Have to wonder abour reliability, but may try another. G6 disappointed me to some extent on all but SW. The audio quality is good on medium strength to strong stations, so MW is pleasant & clear in between the tones. The selectivity is good enough that coastal DXers might get TA or TP on freqs ending with 4, 5 , or 6. Sensitivity is fair-good. Eton fails to give any performance specs even for the $300 Sat. 750. 73, George S., MN

To: "irca-hard-core-dx.com" <[email protected]> Date: Saturday, August 16, 2008, 1:36 PM Although the G6 is an "enthusiasts" radio and will not qualify as an ultralight in contests, awards, etc., several of us are looking longingly at it as a possible small "spotting receiver" for use alongside a true Ultralight in trans-oceanic work.... The G6 is equipped with SSB that works on MW and has 700 memories, etc. etc. The key specification for spotting receiver use is the tuning increments in Slow, when in SSB mode on MW. We are praying for 100 Hz or 10 Hz (.1 kHz or .01 kHz.)., but we can't find the information published anywhere. Is there a G6 owner out there who can put us outta our misery? Thanks, John B.
