A few seconds of Chinese on an mp3 can't compare with the 40-plus cassettes I recorded a couple of years ago of FM stations in Shanghai, Beijing and Xi'an. Lots of interesting commercials, surprisingly, as the market economy grows. I'm kidding of course ... not about having the recordings, but about translating them.
