1737 KUT doesn't wander. It's a standard NDB with its 1737.0 carrier along
with its +400 Hz modulated sideband that you tune to (1737.40 nominal) in
order to hear it, in CW mode. With a receiver with SSB mode, you would tune
to 1737.0 and select USB. If you happen to have a very narrow external audio
filter, you'd tune to 1737.373 in CW mode. (Strictly speaking, the sideband
does wander a little; I'm currently hearing it on 1737.370 the past week.)
In North America, almost all Canadian beacons use this same mode--a carrier
with a +400 Hz modulated ident. Almost all US beacons use a carrier with a +
and - nominal 1020 Hz modulated sidebands--you'd simply tune up or down 1
kHz from the listed carrier frequency to hear the ident, in CW mode (not
using a very narrow audio filter, but the regular CW IF filter in the
radio).
French countries use a format consisting of only a keyed carrier--in that
case you'd tune to the listed carrier frequency. Various South Pacific
beacons associated with France also use this format--I heard one this
morning, from Tahiti.
If you have a radio that only has AM mode, then you just tune to the listed
beacon frequency.

The het I heard on 1737.0 must have been the driftnet beacon (I think you
said that KUT wanders up to 1737.3-ish).
Interesting that 594 made it to my corner of the world, but not so much
anywhere else!

This was not the morning to try for 1737 KUT, at least for me. It wasn't
heard. However a driftnet beacon with a combination of fast CW of
letters,
numbers and a long dash, repeating every 20 seconds or so was on 1737.0
in
CW mode. 1736.0 has the digital/FSK garbage signal that's been there the
past several weeks, fairly strong. That's probably what Dennis was
hearing
in "LSB" he mentioned before, when tuned to 1737.0.
LF was so good that I didn't check MW until very late. 738 and 774 with
Australia, poor, at 1326 utc, long past the usual peak here. Some talk on
828 but too poor to get language.
(New Zealand was especially good this morning for LF beacons, with
several
Australians as well.)
