Hi Pete and Paul; Paul - congrats on a great catch. I also wondered what the other station(s) are that I *thought* that I heard in the background of the recording. Doubt if it was my local WFNI. Their day 50 Kw rig points about 80 percent of the signal SE and the other lobe SSW. At night (10 Kw) it looks about 98% SE. So nothing is really thrown Paul's way. I live 15 or so miles from their tower and at night, CHOK is always bubbling just underneath them.
For the record - I have logged KNX once, during a brief (30 minute) power outage effecting then WIBC's studio, in 1983 or so. 73, Dave ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Thu, 6 Nov 2008 08:39:32 -0800 From: Pete Taylor <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [IRCA] KNX HEARD IN SCOTLAND To: Paul Crankshaw <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: IRCA of America <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed That's a nice catch you got in Scotland! Not quite as big a deal but when my wife and I honeymooned in NZ in Nov. 1978, I picked up KNX and heard the election returns (Jerry Brown was elected as CA governor). Regardless of conditions, KNX is one of the most consistent So. Cal. stations here and I can't sense any signal strength deterioration because of IBOC. I wonder what the co-channel stations were on your recording; with no CBA to deal with, my guess would be WFNI. Also, I note your location right on the coast on Google Earth. Are you right on the water and what is your antenna setup?
