Congratulations, Patrick!!!
I'm glad that it was a special station and in Alaska, too. Bravo and
well done!!! I'll bet that its also a bit nice to have that monkey
off your back.
My first QSL is KEX here in Portland, from Stillwater, OK in
1953............. but I took a hiatus from MW QSLing from late 1959
until 1990(!) so we'll not compare numbers.
Patrick, that is an awful lot of years and a huge amount of
persistence. I think that there are three or four collections in the
history of NAm MW that were above 3000, but there can't be very many.
Most of those were collections started in the 20s and 30s when QSLing
was much easier.... near 100% response rates, etc. Do you have any
idea how many collections (and by whom) are above the 3000
mark??? I'll bet that us old guys would recognize almost every name.
Great job, Patrick!

Wow! Congratulations! You started QSL'ing when I was nine years old.
I knew about MW DX at a fairly early age. From the San Francisco Bay
area I used to sometimes listen to LA Dodgers/SF Giants baseball
games way back when they were on KFI.

After rearly 44 years of QSLing (Feb 65 to now), I have reached a
milestone of 3,000 MW QSLs from 95 countries. The one received in
today's mail is another jewell. It made my day.
970 KFBX AK, Fairbanks, received a very nice QSL card "NewsRadio
970" in blue and "KFBX" is yellow lettering. Under that in black
lettering "Fairbanks Alaska USA" and " 970 kHz AM 10,000 watts."
Also enclosed was a nice letter on KFBX letterheard. in 358d V/S: Scott
Diseth, C.E.. Mentioning, they rarely get reports from the Lower 48.
Address: KFBX, Clear Channel Radio, 546 9th Avenue, Fairbanks AK
99701. Alaska QSL #60, MW QSL 3,000. (PM-OR)
I had given up on this one, as the report was tentative and the CD left
a lot to be desired quality-wise. No ID, but I did have spot for a Car
Dealer with the phone prefix, so I knew it was KFBX. I am sure happy
with this one.

Patrick
