These aren't exactly the same loop as Gordon Nelson designed and which was in earlier versions of the NRC's antenna reference manual, Dave, but will likely have similar sensitivity. The NRC altazimuth loop design was intended among other things to act as a direction finder, and to optimize nulls, so the construction plans are very specific, so as to not introduce "vertical effect" from imbalances in the winding, or instability of the frame. For many users, this would be overkill, however. A question: all these loops are approximately four feet on the diagonal, but I've seen loops that are about 4 feet on a side. Was that also an NRC design? If so, it isn't in my ancient antenna reference manual. best wishes, Nick ***************************** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
