Did a quick tune in around 1340UT this morning, followed by brief visits to the radio at 1450, 1520 and 1550UT. The brief visits were due to the poor conditions others have noted; I suspect signal strength was better before 1400UT (haven't run the propagation monitor yet, but that's been the case the last few days, i.e. no sunrise lift to speak of). Thanks to Nigel for verifying the NHK2 s/off at 1505. The NHK2 carriers were strong at times after 1505, but no audio was heard. In fact, 828 had an immense carrier at 1531UT, and perhaps would have delivered the best audio of the morning if it had been broadcasting.
pretty darn good audio (at least briefly): none reasonable audio at times during the period (though often battling w/splash or noise): 774 JOUB at 1339UT not so reasonable audio, occasional words in splash or noise: 639 CNR1 //5030 at 1342UT; a shocker with the generally poor conditions, and didn't last 702 at 1341 looped to Australia, so likely 2BL 972 HLCA at 1527UT Burbles in the splatter and noise: 594 JOAK likely at 1342UT 747 JOIB at 1340UT 774 possibly DU audio under NHK2 carrier at 1523UT 1134 at 1528UT Strongish het, no audio (either undermodulated or ravaged by splatter): 1566 Weak carriers were noted on practically all frequencies below about 1200 kHz, and somewhat fewerr above 1200kHz. best wishes, Nick ***************************** Nick Hall-Patch Victoria, BC Canada _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
