If I ignore the anomoly of the 2 Koreans showing up at 1655 yesterday, today was a bit better for TPs than yesterday. Apart from the big gun Japanese I also heard audio on from Korea on 972 (at a more conventional time) and 1566, and also CNR1 China on 1593. Signals faded rapidly this morning at sunrise, which is 1545 or so. As an aside TAs were almost totally lacking last night (other than some weak audio from Absolute on 1215), so the focus was on domestics, and we were well rewarded, with good conditions to eastern Canada. CKDO on 1580 (my usual indicator) was in before 4 pm local, giving me the incentive to look for more difficult targets. In the end logs included:
CFDR 780 Halifax - the catch of the evening. Country music audible now and again through WBBM, and after a hour or so finally noted a "Kicks Country" slogan ID. New province for me! CJAD 800 Montreal - decent at times, though ever present CHAB was a nuisance. Once in a while bits of French, presumably from CHRC in Quebec CINW 940 Montreal - Popped up once through CJGX with reference to "Montreal's greatest hits". CKGM 990 Montreal - Didn't stick around for an ID, but almost certainly the sports station audible under CBW. CHKT 1430 Toronto - Dominant on the frequency at times with Chinese programming, // to their web stream. CHHA 1610 Toronto - my best reception of them. Still not great, but got a couple of call letter IDs. Also noted French here at times, likely from Montreal, (though it didn't have a Creole/Haitian sound to it). These logs were between 0200 and 0730 UTC (2100 - 0230 Eastern). A most interesting evening. 73, Nigel Pimblett currently in Lamont, AB _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
