This afternoon when I got hom from church and dinner, I gave the the NE
EWE a check again.
I am very impressed with the results, considering 14X40X14 is not
that much of a EWE. I think I will let my neighbors get used to it and
later I will raise it a bit. I can go up to 17 feet. I can compare the
difference in S Meter readings then. I did not out and repeak the pot a
bit better.
First off, I have never seen KARI Blaine WA dominant way over KOAC
Corvallis OR here. Even with a lot of phasing, KARI still suffers from
QRM. However this afternoon off the NE EWE KARI with no phasig, just the
antenna into the R8 ant inputm KARI is dominant. They put little signal
to the South to protect KOAC. 1140 Calgary sounds like it is across the
street with hardly any sign of anything else. I can even hear the
transmitter hum. CKNW 980 Vancouver BC is S9+20 DB. It goes on and on.
CISL 650 Vancouver BC is still the weakest from Vancouver on the lower
part of the band at S9+5. CBU 690 also sounds like it is across the
street. This is amazing. I plan to add at least another copper pipe at
each end. I can get a null of KSWB 840 Seaside easily to hear Eugene
under them. I want a sharper null, so I will need to increase the
grounding, but that is easy. Oh yes, Lakewood WA 1480 now mixes with
KBMS Vancouver WA days. Lakewood does not get out well and nulls this
way. 1440 AB was dominant a bit ago. This antenna is something else to
say the least! However, it does get a little of my neighbors light
dimmer on the lower part of the band, but they turn that off early.
But overall, it is a quiet antenna.

73,

Patrick
