Hello All,
Several purchasers of the newly popular Tecsun R911, R9012 and Kaito WRX911
analog portable radios have requested an alignment file that can be
downloaded, to be used as a guide to ensure peak performance. These radios
typically
gain a significant performance boost when the loopsticks and 1400 kHz trimmers
are peaked, and the Chinese-market models require an adjustment to cover the
X-band frequencies up to 1700 kHz.
John Bryant and I have cooperated to draft and post such an article in the
Ultralight Radio file section of DXer.Ca, which gives detailed, illustrated
instructions on getting the best AM performance on these surprisingly capable
portables.
If you have yet to perform an alignment on one of your radios, now is a
perfect time to start! Probably never before has a radio been so easy to align
(or so cheap to replace). Jump right in, and make sure you get the best
possible sensitivity, selectivity and nulling ability out of your $9 DXing
machine.
73, Gary DeBock
