The solstice observations here (cf Bill Harms' enquiry a couple of weeks ago):

Both JOUB-774 and JOHR-1287 faded up shortly after 1100UT this morning, having
shown good carriers before the hour. Though mostly poor in the splatter,
there were occasional fair level signals over the next half hour, with quite
recognizable JJ talk on both channels. JOIB-747 made the odd appearance during
the period, never more than poor level audio, but parallel with 774.

Well over half the 9 kHz channels were showing weak carriers during this
period, though some were DU, especially towards 1130UT. Quite good carrier
levels on 279, 594, 828, 1053, 1134, 1143, 1332 and 1566, but no hope of audio.
On the coast would likely have been a different story.

This was using a haywired corner fed loop 23 feet vertical and 45 feet
horizontal. The normal size Flags couldn't particularly drag out audio on
these signals. In this case, size mattered.

best wishes,

Nick
