Hello All,

With the Grayland, Washington DU (South Pacific DX) season currently at
its peak, I was hoping to book another July night at the Grayland Motel
together with John Bryant or Guy Atkins, in hopes of comparing notes with them
on relative antenna performance. Unfortunately both of these noted DXers are
busy this weekend, so the traveling monster loops (and their owner) will
be going to the Grayland Motel's Room 14 for a one-night DXing session by
themselves.

Once again, checks will be made of the relative performance of the latest
weird creations in hot-rodded Ultralights, SSB spotting receivers and
collapsible-frame monster loops, although the DXing session on Sunday morning
should be somewhat more organized than the wild effort of July 12th, which
did manage to produce some strong mp3's from Australia despite intermittent
rain (and an SSB spotting receiver which went on the blink, reminding its
careless owner never to leave home without thorough equipment checks).

Thanks to John Bryant, whose DU loggings from July 12-14 have all been
conveniently entered in to the memories of the 30" loopstick ICF-2010 (along
with fresh batteries and a thorough operational check :>) Thanks also to Guy
Atkins for his words of wisdom-- that DXing is like fishing, and you should
be happy for the opportunity-- even if you don't catch anything.

73, Gary DeBock (in Puyallup, WA, 2 hours from Grayland)
