Hey Matt: I wonder if the heavy smoke that I am now seeing (between the webcam's 150' tower and the broadcast compound) are backfires. This is the closest "plume" that I have seen.

Wilson Weather conditions today are drastically improved to recent days...humidity has come up dramatically and there have even been a few showers in the area. I can see the mountain from my window here, and there is definitely something going on, primarily on the northeast side of the peak. I have heard that they've been setting backfires and doing protection of the mountain. If crews are indeed still up there, I think much, if not all of it, can survive without too much trouble. But, there's never a sure thing in these situations. I'm not sure what the distance is between the two areas but I think that the Observatory may be in more danger than the towers. Here is a Mt. Wilson blog: http://www.mtwilson.edu/fire.php Last hour they said that it may be slightly improving but not according to the webcam. Good luck! 73, Dave Hascall Indy _______________________________________________ This is the Official WTFDA TV/FM DX mailing list with 190 users.
